EDICTS AND COUNCILS… 16-30 (975)
MEDITATION 2

(CHANTER:)
From both Romes and far away lands as Scythia gathers the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic church * to organize the orthodox faith. Tradition is defined in accordance with codified Scripture, * establishing orthodoxy as the beacon of enlightenment. * Communications is the nurturing key to unlocking any relationship of mutual understanding.

CHANT 2

(CLERGY)
Attention! A reading from Acts of the Apostles

(ALL:)
+ Glory be to You O Lord glory be to You
Alleluia, alleluia!
(CLERGY:)
“ Now the apostles and elders came together to consider the matter. * And after much dispute, Peter rose up and said to them * “Brethren, you know that a good while ago God chose from among us, * that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear the word of the gospel and believe”. (Acts 15:6-7)

(ALL:)
+ Glory be to You O God glory be to You
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

(MAY SIT IF FATIGUED)

(ALL:)

16 Rejoice although the Edict of Milan gives supremacy to the state, * a unity through religion tolerance is monitored through checks and balances (313).

Glory be Saint Constantine the great emperor who is astute * knowing it is best to forge the iron while hot.

17 Rejoice as the emperor personally hosts the first ecumenical council, * by inviting every known archbishop of the church he promotes unity not diversity.

Saints Athanasius of Alexandria joins Stephen of Surozh, John and Theophilus of the Goths, as well as Kadym from the Bosporus * as many traveled from the Black and Azov Sea coasts to the council at Nicaea in order to define the consubstantiality of the Son (325).

18 Rejoice contemplating why our mild mannered holy father Saint Nicholas * rebuked publicly and personally the condescending heretic Arius with an open fist-ed smack.

In difference to this liar of yesterday the synod cannot trust the tomorrow, they compose a creed * to combat these heresies as we sing these truths uncompromised before emperor and patriarch.

19 Rejoice with delight as the second ecumenical council in Constantinople defends the consubstantiality of the Holy Spirit, * attested by Saints Gregory Nazianzen, Cyril of Jerusalem and joined by the shepherd of Chersoneses Bishop Eutherius (381).

Glory be the third ecumenical council in Ephesus declaring Divine Maternity (Theotokos), * together with Saints Cyril of Alexander the bishop of Chersonesus is again united(431).

20 Rejoice and note as the fourth ecumenical council in Chalcedon defends the double natures of Christ,* as orated “by Peter” through the great pope Saint Leo was witnessed by the bishop of Chersoneses,

Here is the first record of the children of the black earth furors coming under the omophorion (pallium protection) * of the holy-land through the patriarch of old Jerusalem nurturing the see of Chersoneses (451).

21 Rejoice comforting the shunned Saint Martin our primate defender of orthodoxy, * for opposing the Monotheism heretics, he is brought by guard to his Crimean exile (655),

Summonsed from the old Rome the pope faced the wrath * as both the emperor and patriarch of the new Roman usurps primacy.

22 Rejoice admiring his resolve that chains grow with links * not with kinks as Saint Martin the pope professes;

Glory be he: “I will not commune with the unorthodox * even if it be Our privileged sister church of Constantinople”.

23 Rejoice as the servant of the servants of God Martin * is posthumously vindicated by the sixth ecumenical council (680),

Glory be the duo-natures of the Christ Jesus that we ever confirm * when joining our two fingers in signing ourselves in the cross.

24 Rejoice trusting in truth even though the double headed eagle of Imperial Byzantium * has honey on its tongues while ice is in its heart.

Although Constantinople hosts this sobor to support a pet heresy, * when they are proven in error even Imperial Byzantium embrace orthodoxy humbly.

25 Rejoice as the seventh and final of the holy catholic (ecumenical) councils * are convened in the past two millennial of Christianity, ending as they began in Nicea (787),

Glory be the defense of icons in alignment with the 10 commandments are reflected upon and validated * in the holy presence of the empress Saint Irena and bishop Saint Stephen of the Sugdak (Surozh) eparchy (787).

26 Rejoice as I confess our belief in a sole God * simultaneously triune as presented by our Father the Creator God-head,

He together with the one and only incarnate Son of man tandem with being the Son of God, * and the omnipresent Spirit and sanctifying Treasurer of blessings.

27 Rejoice for my Lord said to my Lord “that they may be one Father, as We are One” * calling for our unity in the perspective of plurality (John 17:11).

I validate the one, holy, catholic and apostolic church * of the orthodox faith as expressed in prayer, for we are as we pray.

28 Rejoice for we are made in the image and likeness of God. * As an icon of the Lord Jesus, Who became man so that we in turn can become godly.

Glory be He who suffered as we do, so that He would experience as we do; * so we in turn can commune in the mystical Body of Christ with our Lord and God as He does.

29 Rejoice amalgamated into the communion of saints who prays for us as we pray through them, * for it is the miracle that makes a saint not the saint that makes the miracle.

Glory be the highway to paradise is lined with helping hands * while the single file slide to hell is greased in selfish intentions.

30 Rejoice in our free will from God Himself by which we can obtain perfection. * Like a larvae metamorphosis we are personally transformation into a Christ like butterfly.

Glory be in confessing the one and only sin-forgiving baptism (indelible) * we prepare this mortal body for its resurrection onto immortality.
